Sally Briney & Sweatin Bullets

Sweatin Bullets and Sally had a great first year with wins in the show pleasure driving division at River Ridge, Indy Charity, Boone County Fair, Illinios State Fair and winning the Regional Championships at the Mane Event Horse Show.  Sally with a smile on her face seems to enjoy the show ring as much as  Bullets seems to enjoy it too. Best of luck in this year.

Deborah Baird & Sunny

Deborah began riding Western as an adult and purchased her first horse at the ripe old age of 40. While training at a large Quarter horse facility, a visiting Dressage clinician caught her interest, and she has been addicted to Dressage ever since. Deborah and her 17 year old Palomino Quarter horse, Sunny, have boarded at Pratense Farms for 5 years and have both improved tremendously.

Kate Fargo & Regal Heir

Kate began riding at Pratense Farms in 2002. In March of 2005 she purchased Regal Heir and it has been a success story ever since. 2005 show season results were High Point Saddlesbred Sport Horse at Indy Dressage Classic, Team Champion at the USDP YG/JR, Regional Team Championship and Training Level Overall Champion. End of year results show them CLD YG/JR Champion at Training Level, USDF All Breeds Training Level Champion, ASHA Training Level Open and Part Bread Champion. 2006 shows the pair preparing for 1st and 2nd level.

Chrissie Moran & Riverdance

Chrissie Moran has always had a passion for horses, but it wasn’t until she was taking lessons as an adult that she had the opportunity to fulfill this childhood dream.  Chrissie has been boarding at Pratense Farm for 6 years, first with Kid (right), her dressage-trained quarter horse.  Kid is now 26 years young, and he is enjoying a well-deserved retirement at Pratense Farm (Will, Chrissie’s (at the time) 6 year old son, claims Kid for his very own).  Chrissie is now in training with Riverdance (pictured at left), an 8 year old Oldenburg mare who joined the farm as a green 3 year old in 2001.  Thanks to Paula’s patience and guidance, Chrissie and Riverdance are making great progress with scores consistently in the 60's.

Susan Rosse & Legal Opinion

Susan Rosse is a senior at Springfield High School in Springfield, IL. She has been riding horses since November 2001 (when she was 9). Initially Susan rode Dressage and Hunt Seat in local schooling shows. In 2004, Susan switched to riding Saddleseat and learned on a Country Pleasure American Saddlebred named Speciphi (nicknamed Tuffy). Susan and Speciphi were partners for 3 years. In November 2006 Susan purchased Reedann’s Phalsetto (nicknamed Willow), an American Saddlebred mare. Susan rode Redann’s Phalsetto in Show Pleasure, Country Pleasure, and even a little Western Pleasure. In August 2009, Susan traded Reedann’s Phalsetto for another American Saddlebred named Legal Opinion (nicknamed Monti). Susan now shows Legal Opinion in Show Pleasure. Susan has also shown all three of the American Saddlebreds in some driving classes. For the last year or so, Susan has been teaching beginning – intermediate riding to students at Pratense Farms. Susan plans to pursue at college a mixture of equine studies and psychology.

Helena Rosse & Urban Gypsy

Helena Rosse is an 8th grader at Grant Middle School in Springfield, IL. Helena has been riding horses since August 2003. She started riding so that she and her sister, Susan, could show together at the 2003 Youth Charity Horse Show in the Lead Line class; they won the class! Helena showed Dressage and Hunt Seat on a variety of horses, including pasture ponies, a Halflinger, and an Arabian. At the 2008 Youth Charity Horse Show, Helena tried showing Saddleseat on a half American Saddlebred, half welsh pony named Raspberry’s Delight (nicknamed Annie) and was very successful. That winter she changed to Saddleseat. In 2009 Helena showed Saddleseat on a Country Pleasure American Saddlebred named Speciphi (nicknamed Tuffy) and then changed to a Country Pleasure American Saddlebred named Urban Gypsy (nicknamed Captain). Helena has also started learning how to drive horses. Helena continues to enjoy riding anything and improving her saddleseat skills.

Kathi Cannon & Trixxer

Kathi started taking lessons with Paula in September 2007 after being on a 4 year hiatus from riding.  In April 2008, Kathi and Paula went to check out a Dutch Warmblood cross gelding named Trixxter.  It was love at first sight. Kathi and Trixxter are now working on creating a partnership and hope to be schooling and showing First Level dressage in the next year or two.

 Rachel Boyce & Winglass Victory

Wineglass Victory is a 2004 Shagya Arabian gelding by *Budapest. Rachel Boyce purchased him from Linda Rudolphi’s Wineglass Farm in 2006 as an unstarted prospect. With Paula Briney’s help and guidance, Victory and Rachel have gotten a good start in dressage, showing successfully at Training level. In 2009, Rachel also took him to his first endurance ride, completing and placing well in a 25-mile competitive ride. Rachel’s goal is to continue progressing in dressage with Victory, qualify for the USDF All-Breeds awards for the Performance Shagya Registry (PShR) and compete in 25 and eventually 50-mile endurance competitions.

... Solitary Lady (aka Princess)

Solitary Lady, aka Princess, is a 1993 American Saddlebred mare bred and owned by Sally Jo Briney. She was trained and shown successfully through Second level by Paula Briney before being retired to the lesson horse program at Pratense Farm. In 2006, Rachel Boyce took Princess home to see if she would make a distance riding horse. After a few exciting trail rides and some discussions about creek crossings, she stepped up to the plate. Princess has won the ASHA Distance Riding award for the last three seasons and has amassed over 300 miles in recognized endurance rides of 25 to 30 miles. Rachel also continues to take dressage lessons with Princess, learning from the schoolmaster and showing her at First level. With her huge, ground-covering road trot (clocked at 12 mph!) and “look at me” attitude, we hope that Princess will continue to turn heads in the dressage ring and on the trail for many more years!
